Dr. Abdurrahim El-Keib, Ex-premier, Libya.

   Dr. Abdurrahim El-Keib served as Former Prime Minister of Libya, Novemebr 2011 -2012 and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Libyan Investment Authority. Before that, he served as member of the Libyan Transitional National Council. Dr. E-Keib is a founder of the Global Energy and Technology Company, Tripoli, Libya.

 

   Dr. El-Keib received his B.Sc. (Hons) in 1973 from the University of Tripoli, Libya, his M.S. in 1976 from the University of Southern California and his Ph.D. in 1984 from North Carolina State University, all in Electrical Engineering. He taught at the University of Tripoli, North Carolina State University, Dr. El-Keib joined the University of Alabama as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1985 and became Professor in 1996. He has lectured at The University of Tripoli, North Carolina State University, and The University of Alabama.

 

   Dr. El-Keib, an expert in power system economics, planning and controls, took leave from his tenured faculty position at Alabama to direct the Division of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering at the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, 1999–2001. In 2006, he left Alabama to chair the EE Department at The Petroleum Institute in the UAE, where he also served as Director of Graduate Studies.

 

   He has supervised many M.Sc. theses and PhD dissertations and is the recipient of several teaching and research awards. El-Keib's research in the area of Electrical Power Engineering and is an author of numerous research papers. His research was sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Electric Power Research Institute, the United States Department of Energy, Southern Company Services, and Alabama Power Company, and the General Electricity Company of Libya. He has published numerous papers and research reports and a book chapter. His work on Emissions Constrained Dispatch and VoltlVar compensation on primary distribution feeders has been implemented by several companies in the US. He also served as a consultant to several industries including Alabama Power Company and Southern Company Services.

 

   He served as a member of the Board of Directors, the Arab Science and Technology Foundation, 2001–07, a member of the Science and Technology Panel, the Islamic Development Bank, Senior member of IEEE, Associate Editor for the IEEE Power Engineering Society Letters, 1992–2000, and the World Science and Engineering Academy and Society Transactions on Power Systems, a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Korean Institute of electrical Engineers/Society of Power Engineering, and of the Advisory Board of the International Journal of Innovations in Energy Systems and Power.

 

 

 

Dr. Hisao Taoka, Professor

   Dr. Hisao Taoka received his B.S. in 1977 and M.S. in 1979 from the University of Tokyo. In 1979, he joined Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, where he has engaged in the research on power system control and analysis using advanced computer technologies. He received a doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo in 1986. After contributing as a professor in Fukui University of Technology from 2003 till 2010, he is now a professor in the Graduate School of Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Fukui.

 

   Dr. Taoka’s main research subject is power system analysis and control using the advanced parallel processing technology. He is one of the first people who realized a fully digital real time power system simulator on a parallel processor in the world.

 

   He also engaged in research on power system planning and operation technologies. His research activities gave a lot of contribution to the development of special protection system for power utilities, security monitoring and control system in advanced energy management systems, voltage control algorithm in distribution control systems and diagnostic system using neural network technology for protection relays.

 

   These researches lead him to get the Outstanding Paper Award in 1985 from the IEE of Japan and the Outstanding Electric Science Technology Award (OHM Technology Award) in 1995 from the Electric Science Technology Encouragement Foundation in Japan for his innovation to simulator technology.

 

   After moving to university, he researches about new generation power systems under penetration of renewable energy resources using information and communication technology, such as smart grid, micro grid and digital grid.

 

   He belongs to several committees of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, Japan National Committee of CIGRE. He is a member of CIGRE, IEEE, the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers and the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

 

 

 

Dr. Junzo Watada, Professor

   Dr. Junzo Watada received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Osaka City University Japan, and Dr. of Engineering on "Fuzzy Multivariant Analysis and Its Applications" from Osaka Prefecture University, Japan. He is a Professor of Management Engineering, Knowledge Engineering and Soft Computing at Graduate School of Information, Production & Systems, Waseda University since 2003, after having contributed for 13 years as a professor of Human Informatics and Knowledge Engineering, to the School of Industrial Engineering at Osaka Institute of Technology, Japan. He was with Faculty of Business Administration, Ryukoku University for 8 years. Before moving to Academia, he was with Fujitsu Ltd. Co., where he worked on development of software systems as a senior system engineer for 7 years.

 

   He is an editorial board member of International Journal of Innovative Computing, Informatics and Control (IJICIC), ICIC express letters, Official Journal of Scientiae Mathematicae Japonicae (JAMS), International Journal of Intelligent Decision Technologies (IJIDT), Journal of Economics and Management (JEM), and Official Journal of Japan Society of Kansei Engineering, Journal of Management Science & Statistical Decision (ISSN1814-9073). He is an advisory board member of Journal of Management Science and Statistical Decision and Journal of Centre for Artificial Inttelligence and Robotics (CAIRO), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has contributed several international journals as a guest editor including Fuzzy Sets and Systems, International Journal of Approximate reasoning and so on. He has served as a chair, an advisory committee, an international program committee, and so on for various important international conferences. He was an editorial board member of International Journal of Systems and Control Engineering (JSCE) of Official Journal of Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Part I from 2003-present.

 

   Dr. Watada was a visiting professor at various universities and institutes over 15 countries including Purdue University, West Lafayette, University of Texas, Austin in USA, Tianjin University, Tsinhua University, P.R. CHINA, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India, Malaysia University of Science and Technology, Penan, Malaysia University of Technology, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia University Saba, Kota Kinabaru in Malaysia, San Paulo University, Brazil, Research Institute of Thompson CRF, Paris, France, Polytechnic University of Bucharest in Romania, several universities at Taipei and so on.

 

   Dr. Watada is contributing as an external examiner to Chinese University of Hong Kong for about 10 years, as an advisory board committee to Malaysia University of Technology and an assessment member of Research Grants Council of Hong Kong or about 10 years.

 

   He was the President of Bio-Medical Fuzzy Systems Association (2001-2003). He was the Vice President of Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Systems for two years (1993-1995) and a board committee of Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Systems, and also served as the principal editor for its journal, and was the president of Japan Chapter of International Fuzzy System Association for two years (1993-1995), he is right now an advisory board member and a head of Kyushu-chapter of Japan Society of Intelligent Informatics and Fuzzy Systems Since 2005. And he contributes several journals as an editorial board. He is a member of IFSA, Japan Society for Fuzzy Theory and Systems, etc.

 

 

 

Dr. Rimtaig Lee: The Chairman of Korea Wind Energy Industry Association and CEO of Halla Wind Energy Co., TD.

 

   Dr. Lee is a board member of GWEC(Global Wind Energy Council). He served as president & CEO of Korea Southern Power Company Ltd., He has served for 26 years in Hyundai Engineering Company Ltd., which was a subsidiary of Hyundai Business Conglomerate as the CEO/ the executive vice president/a senior vice president/ a vice president/ a director/ a manager. He has carried out the engineering ,consulting and building of the 500MW /300 MW class thermal power projects, combined cycle power projects at home and overseas including Libya, Iraqi, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. Dr. Lee is also actively participated in the social activities such as the chairman of the business cooperation between Korea and Peru, the chairman of Alumni of the Electrical Engineering Department of Seoul National University, a member of the Engineering Academy in Korea, a member of Korea Leaders Forum and a Co-chairman of Korea Energy Forum.

 

   He has played the role of the chairman of the national organization on the 2003 IFAC(International Federation of Automatic Control on Power System) Symposium in Korea. Dr. Lee was a Professor(cum) of Graduate Course of International Business Regional Commerce, Soong-sil University on the subject of Feasibility Study of the Industrial Projects, the Risk Management of the overseas projects and project management.

 

   He has obtained B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering, Ph.D. in Logic Based Expert System in Seoul National University. He is a Professional Engineer (PE) in power sector and the chairman of electrical and electronic field of PE. He studied in Banff School of Advance Management for Senior Executives in Canada(1988), Residential School on Power System Engineering in Melbourne University(1973) in Australia, Project Management on Power Plant Project at Brown & Root Inc., Houston in USA(1976).
